The Adopt-a-Sitio Project was borne out of the desire of Alpha Phi Omega (Philippines) Greater Los Angeles (APOGLA) to assist the local government units in the Philippines to advance the socio-economic status of their respective community members. Adhering to our organization’s guiding principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service, APOGLA sought to put these principles into action, by Leading the way in donating used clothes and hygiene kits to poor but deserving families and children in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal, to strengthen the bonds of Friendship between APOGLA and the different collegiate chapters and local alumni associations involved in the project and to Serve our less-fortunate brethren in the Philippines.

Under the leadership of APOGLA President, Sis. Melody Ang-Gayon, ably assisted by project chairman, Bro. Roland Paras, APOGLA was able to distribute 10 balikbayan boxes of used clothing to around 600 familes and around 500 hygiene kits to children of Barangay San Isidro, in coordination with the Pamantasan ng Montalban, Rodriguez, Rizal, The University of Rizal System, Rodriguez, Rizal, the Samahang Alpha Phi Omega ng Rodriguez (SAPORD), community leaders, local barangay officials led by chairperson Ligaya Lynes, school teachers and many more, ensuring the success of this initial project. Present during the distribution were Sis. Melody Ang-Gayon, Ophel Amon, Dolores Guansing, Erna Villanueva, Florita Patelo (ETA) and Bros. Tony Amon, Mar Garchitorena and Roland Paras. The used clothing drive was initiated by APOGLA Bro. Beeboy Mansilla and Sis. Ann Asuncion. There are plans in the future to expand the area to include adjacent barangays.
